INDUSTRY PROJECTS
|
Overview
NetMesh is active in a number of industry projects, including:
- OpenID
-
OpenID is a family of URL-based identity protocols developed in a meritocratic fashion
at OpenID.net and implemented increasingly
broadly on the internet. Major companies supporting it include AOL, Microsoft, Six Apart, Symantec,
Technorati, VeriSign, and WordPress.
NetMesh's Johannes Ernst serves on the board of the OpenID Foundation.
- Yadis
-
Yadis is a specification for URL meta-data discovery that became the first focal point for
industry convergence around URLs as identifiers for people. It was developed in a meritocratic fashion
at Yadis.org.
NetMesh co-initiated Yadis with Six Apart in summer 2005.
- LID
-
LID is the original family of URL-based identity identity protocols developed by NetMesh
(see LID wiki). It has been one of the
main roots of the OpenID 2.0 specification.
- OSIS
-
OSIS was originally conceived of as an open-source implementation of an identity selector similar
to Windows CardSpace, but for other platforms. Its focus broadened over time to build an
open-source identity system by coordinating the development of open-source parts in various
projects (see OSIS wiki).
NetMesh co-initiated the OSIS project with Microsoft and VeriSign in spring 2006.
Since, OSIS has been joined by CA, Cordance, IBM, Novell, Nulli Secundus,
Oracle, Ping, Red Hat, Shibboleth, Social Physics, Sun, and SXIP.
